I'm Lauri Manner, a fingerpicking guitarist from Oulu, Finland. I play hypnotic, rhythmic and rootsy instrumental acoustic guitar music under the stage name Kadonnut Manner ("the lost continent"), you can check out my music at http://kadonnutmanner.bandcamp.com.
More details about my music:
Drawing influences from John Fahey school of American Primitive Guitar playing, country blues of Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt and finnish folk music, my music has been described as cinematic, raw and emotional, featuring lots of open tunings, hot syncopation and driving rhythms and expanding the country blues form with things borrowed from different folk traditions, 20th century classical music and other inspiring sources.
My background in music is mostly in punk rock, I've played bass in various finnish bands for over 20 years. I started getting seriously into playing roots music in 2015 and try to apply the same principles of honesty, self-expression, and do-it-yourself ethic to it instead of flashy virtuosity, and audiences have been responding to that really well. My music works both for focused listening and for creating nice ambience for drinking, eating and socializing, and I enjoy playing for differrent types of audiences on differrent nights.
